No More Weekends

punchclock.jpgSo this was my final time steering the Deadspin zeppelin as far off course as possible on the weekends. (Occasionally, that happened.) And looking back … Jesus Christ, I wrote a lot of crap.

About 13 months ago, I was asked to be one of a handful of bloggers to replace MJD in that very role, which was a rather daunting legacy to follow. I remember the scads of readers and commenters who were sad to see him go. Then I go and superglue an “okay, people this is my last weekend” line on my final post, and then all of a sudden … I’ve got all these people who are sad to see me go, or something. radioannouncer.jpgThis, here, is quite scary. The Toledo Free Press, a newspaper with words and pages and ink, recently pushed out some radio ads to the local market promoting each of their sections. Unlike their print edition, the commercials themselves were poorly edited, for they did not catch the slip-up where they mentioned my name in their commercial about their sports section. And because of this, they left it in.

You are subliminally obliged to buy Matt Sussman today. You can’t beat these prices!

With all the hubbub at the ‘Spin, the ‘Brooks, the ‘Tilde, and ‘Ogcritics — coupled with my last long-ass trip, I sure have neglected the ol’ Futon for the last week, now haven’t I?

Okay, next week I’ll be sure to take better care — meaning, any kind of care at all — around these parts. With the MAC basketball season over, it’s tough to find stuff to write about, although I could just open the standards up to any goofy-ass story that comes my way, now couldn’t I?

Or if, you know, Detroit starts winning again.
