Dan Dakich Beat The System

dakichspace.jpgI’m … I’m speechless.

Indiana University is making plans to finish the basketball season without Kelvin Sampson. The coach of the Hoosiers is not expected to be with the team when they play at Northwestern Saturday.

A source close to the situation tells Eyewitness Sports that officials from the IU administration have met with assistant basketball coach Dan Dakich about taking over the basketball team as interim head coach for the rest of the season.

So, to repeat. Dan Dakich — the guy BGSU cast aside last year for many reasons, including this — will now coach Indiana basketball for the rest of the year.

Dan Dakich coaches Indiana basketball. How about that.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue, snorting coke, smoking weed, doing crystal meth, driving under the influence, feeding random parking meters, shoplifting from Goodwill, and accusing chestnuts of being lazy.

I thought I was at the point where I could keep it together and keep my vices in check. Then this hits the fan.

I just think it’s funny how far the once-proud Indiana Hoosiers basketball team has fallen. After being the proverbial battered wife to Bob Knight for oh so many years, they have subsequently run through one mediocre coach, one flagrant rules violator (which they knew about when they hired him, no matter what they say), and now are left with a MAC reject, and hey, even I don’t know how the hell he got this cushy position.

Who knows? Maybe all of this subsequent garbage is punishment for how long they put up with Bob Knight. Had they fired him earlier, they might have taken a half-decent coach and made a solid champion by now. Oh well. Welcome to the junkyard, IU.

    Priceless!

Wonder if Dakich will still be a guest on 1470 The Ticket?

Or, when will Bobby come back to the IU?

So… do you realize Dakich might be a phone call or two away from
being IU’s interim coach? There’s ALOT of heat around here on Sampson
for his recruiting violations, which also involved one of his
assistants. If they were to boot Kelvin, I wonder how many of his
assistants would get the door, too?

It boggles the mind!! I’m still in shock two weeks after I realized this could possibly happen.

Why does it look like Dan and Amir are about to destroy some random guy? I digress… And where the hell is Micheal Bolton?
