It strikes me that when most critics blast blog writing, they don't really think that the writing itself is the problem, though they say that's the case. Indeed, were this the case, Will Leitch and others wouldn't get spiffy jobs. It has been said before (and it seems to be the source of the most bitter of feelings towards bloggers) that the main problems with sports blogs are the number of people giving their opinion in the comment section that can post anonymously. Though those same publications put raving lunatics in the Op-Ed page. At the risk of being long-winded or ironic, since I am a blog commenter myself, I'll leave you by stating the common stereotypes from both sides of this vigorous debate: "Deadspin commenters are hacks."
