Kent’s Dunk Beats Kent

By Matt Sussman | Feb 2, 2008 | Filed Under Basketball

I could have seen it if they kept the game at 7 p.m. like a good little team. But the start time was noon, right in my wheelhouse at Deadspin HQ. Therefore Toledo’s rather large upset of Kent State is condensed into my memory to this holy crap he just dunked that in the final second video.

Jonathon Amos’s steal led to a halfcourt outlet pass to Tyrone Kent, whose dunk broke the tie with 0.1 seconds left on the clock.

And if you’re keeping score on the season? UT: 7-1 at home. 0-12 on the road.

Take comfort in the knowledge that your center court seat was well used. Game trivia: Toward the end of the game, Amos flung his yamaka sweatband into the crowd. Justin Anyijong got .1 second of valuable playing time.

This Toledo team is so inconsistent it drives me crazy.
