Duke-Belmont Plusher Than I Recall

By Matt Sussman | Mar 24, 2008 | Filed Under Basketball

Oh my god, they actually did this.

NBC17, the Raleigh/Durham affiliate, was unable to attain highlights of NCAA basketball games from CBS, so to show the highlights from Duke’s near-loss to 15th-seeded Belmont, they… well… yeah, they did that. Seriously, local TV can rule sometimes. Fark

That’s my station, Penn came up with the idea the idea two years ago with the Florida national championship in football. He used the old school electronic board for that and this time he wanted ideas and I pitched Lego’s a la bat girl and that morphed into dolls and stuffed animals.

So I’m watching some Olympic water polo match online (yes, I know) and it’s halftime. The song they picked? Why, the instrumental version of “Cotton-Eye Joe.” Not sure what’s more shocking. That they’re playing the instrumental version of “Cotton-Eye Joe,” or that someone made an instrumental version of “Cotton-Eye Joe.” Is this how all water polo matches go? NBCOlympics.com
