My Bracket Is Totally Ruined

Okay, not really. I’m 2nd in my group of 31 picks, 93rd percentile overall.

And the guy ahead of me, well, works for Yahoo! Sports, so you can reasonably assume he’s cheating.

The annual goofiness in the brackets have been localized in the West and Midwest. That’s where all 10-or-higher-seed upsets have been found, and those misses have basically been shared across the board. That also includes the mistake of choosing St. Mary’s over Miami, which about half the people thought was the most likely 10-over-7.

Also, picking Michigan State over Pittsburgh helped my cause. And Kansas State over USC. And Villanova over Clemson. But it’s no legendary Bradley-in-the-Sweet-16 call.

And now for a single bullet point on those “upped sets,” because like any well-trained assassin knows, you only need one good solid bullet point to get the job done:

• According to Yahoo! pick’em contestants, 12th-seeded Western Kentucky was the 40th (of 64) most popular choice to reach the round of 16 (2.2%). Davidson was 35th (4.4%) and Villanova was 29th (7.8%).

Nice work! I need Stanford to go to the title game to have any shot at anything. In other words, I’m F’ed.

Talk about a horse so dark it traps any and all light from escaping.

Curse Davidson and the perennially upsetting Georgetown Hoyas.

Davidson is a pleasant town though, if you ever stop through. Great people.

But yeah, my bracket is ruined. Still hope for a UNC/UCLA matchup though.
